Rally the Vote Event with Women's Voices, Women Vote, Arianna Huffington, Joan Blades & Susie Tompkins Buell 

San Francisco, Calif. - May 11, 2004 /Send2Press Newswire/ -- Women's Voices, Women Vote amd EcoEvents announces Rally the Vote! which will be held 7 pm, Tuesday, May 18 - Cowell Theater, Fort Mason, San Francisco. Speakers include: Arianna Huffington, Joan Blades & Susie Tompkins Buell. Women's Voices. Women Vote is a new nonprofit organization working to increase the number of unmarried women registering and voting in this election.

Background information: 
 
Women's Voices. Women Vote conducted groundbreaking research, analyzing 50 years of public opinion data, census data and exit polls as well as original polling and focus groups - the most extensive research ever undertaken on unmarried women.  
 
This analysis and research provides dramatic conclusions: unmarried women are the largest group of people on the sidelines of our democracy. But if they became participants instead, they could dramatically change the course of our nation.  
 
In the 2000 election, 22 million unmarried women who were eligible to vote didn't and 16 million didn't even bother to register. If unmarried women voted at the same rate as married women, over six million more voters would have gone to the polls in 2000.  
 
Single women can transform American politics, but only if they participate, and we believe they will: in San Francisco and all over the country.  
 
Hundreds of women will join Arianna Huffington, Joan Blades (co-founder of MoveOn.org) Susie Tompkins Buell. Page Gardner and Chris Desser, the founders of Women's Voices, to Rally the Vote! on May 18 at 7 pm at the Cowell Theatre at Fort Mason.  
 
Reporters may attend the rally, as well as a press briefing at 5 pm (refreshments served). News organizations are invited to engage in informal interviews with the speakers, and other activists from Women's Voices, Women Vote who attend Rally the Vote! on May 18.
